The More Things Change...

Here’s a great photo from 1927’s ground-breaking “Metropolis.” That’s most likely Brigitte Helm in the robot costume, having a refreshing sip while an assistant blows (hopefully) cold air into a crack in the metal.

Fifty years later, here’s Anthony Daniels (“Kenneth” in “The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady”) who played a robot character in a small, forgotten film called “The Star Wars” around 1977.

I can’t find any other info on “The Star Wars.” It looks like it might have been a remake of “Metropolis,” but set in the desert.

Anyway, here’s to the actors and actresses who must toil in hot metal for days on end to help realize the director’s Perfect Vision.
